ELEC project http://www.be-odl.org represented by BE-ODL
Since 1999, the Belgian network for Open & Distance learning works hard for the implementation of e-learning in business life. BE-ODL has a strong believe in the future of e-learning and wishes to introduce this training method to a broad general public. Companies will find benefit in e-learning. This new training method lends support to the needs of a company by giving the employees the opportunity to constantly keep up to date their competence. Every company wants to innovate and introduce products and services more quickly. Hence, well trained personnel is an absolute necessity to prove successful.
The Belgian Network for Open and Distance Learning is a non-profit making organization. It aims at establishing cooperation between statutory organizations and private companies with a view to a growing implementation of e-learning in training programmes for employees.
BE-ODL links organisations and companies with a rich experience and expertise with modern information- and communication technology. Five or six times a year, BE-ODL organises seminars at which practical cases are presented. Furthermore, several manuals were being written for 'starters' and other projects will be launched.

Elearn2work project www.elearn2work.orgrespresented by Knowledge Base (UK) Ltd
Knowledge Base (UK) Ltd was first established in 1999 by the Universities of York and Hull, the University College of Ripon and York St John (now York St John University) and North Yorkshire Training and Enterprise Council.
Knowledge Base headquarters are located within York Science Park. These premises house 23 members of staff, variously responsible for project management, research, quality, tuition and internal administration.
Since its inception Knowledge Base has led a number of successful local and regional e-learning research and development projects, including the Bite Size and learn2gain initiatives. Between 2003 and 2006, following its involvement in the pioneering ADAPT (CELL) project, Knowledge Base successfully acted as a UFI / learndirect Hub operator and learning provider for North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and the Humber. During this period the company also acted as the national learndirect Hub operator for Skills Active, the Sport and Recreation Industry Sector Skills Council.
Through its work with learndirect, Knowledge Base supported the delivery of learning opportunities to over 100,000 adult learners - the majority of whom were 'new' learners from deprived communities. In evaluative research conducted for Ufi by BMG Research it was revealed that Knowledge Base's region of Hub responsibility consistently over-achieved in terms of learner satisfaction in comparison to the UK as a whole.

E-micro project http://www.emicromurcia.com/represented by Murcia City Council
The Departament was created in 1997, and its task is the management and administration of the local projects, which are financed by the EC Funds. Within this service, we deal with the search for information about announcements, preparation of candidacies, looking for partners, management and monitoring of approved projects, the economic and financial control and their economic justification.
Some projects focused on the development of the city have been created and developed together with the different local services; TERRA Model Projects, URBAN I Community Initiative, and also several projects with the Local Operation Programme, which manages the Treasury Department in Spain. Nowadays, Murcia takes part of the project Innocomerce that tries to find innovative tools to support the small business in the city.
We have worked on projects that promote the development of country areas, within the programme PRODER and in the IC Leader+, or projects that provide the awareness of the cultural heritage of the towns and cities of the European Union, within the programme Cultura 2000.
The employment policy is one of the priorities for the EU and for the countries that form part of it. Therefore, programmes to promote and improve the quality of jobs have aroused the interest of our City Council also. Since 1997, some projects have been developed within the framework of the Community Initiative of Employment, and later on in EQUAL and in Total Subsidy of the European Social Fund, which belongs to the Operation Programme for the promotion of work in Spain .
The cooperation to development has been taken into account by the local council with the participation in URB-AL, exchange programme between administrative departments of Latin America and Europe , in order to improve their technical capacities.
Nowadays, we keep making progress with the cooperation with other cities and regions of the European Union; by preparing new projects focused on the different areas of interest, like energy, cultural heritage, and the most important thing; the joining to the network Eurocities, with which we hope we improve the quality and the spreading of the results of the projects and cooperate tirelessly with the building of the European Union.
